VBS: Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School is a summer formation event for pre-school thru 5th grade students. For the last few years, St. Raphael’s in Springfield has had a variety of fun and fellowship for students and families.

The five day event has includes: Live Music, Skits, Games, Serving Others, Field Trips, Crafts. And Food. Each year has been unique as well with Puppet with a Purpose to our favorite visitors, Live, Secret, Weird, Odd, & Super Saints.

In 2010, we joined our friends at St. John’s Lutheran Home for an ecumenical VBS which was intergenerational as well as a hot time. (Heat outside reached into the 100s.) A great time was had by the home’s staff as they prepared foam kits for our craft times. With Videos, Small Groups, and Group Activities, our Vacation Bible School teaches our students that faith is fun and that the family of God learns best together.

Adults and youth have been catechists, puppet masters, bible teachers, crafty, hospitality aids, assistants, music leaders, skit leaders, and many other kids of helpers. The whole community has an opportunity to serve at VBS and who doesn’t like to share their faith with children.
