The Mass

What is the Mass? The Eucharist, the Lord’s Supper…

The Mass is the celebration of the life, death, and resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ. The experience of sharing bread and wine reflects the Last Supper which is the institution of the Eucharist; when Christ gave us his own body and blood to save us from our sins and give us life.

Weekly, Roman Catholics celebrate this great Paschal Mystery, when God redeemed the world by the example of dying and rising of the Son of Man. The Body of Christ, the children of God, are called to share this feast, this Holy Sacrament, as a weekly expression of their faith in Christ and in the holy community of faith, the Church.

The Third Commandment tells us to keep the Sabbath day holy. Our Church expresses this commandment by meeting each week as a family to participate in the Holy Eucharist. It is a sign of our commitment to our faith. It is an action of our service to others. It is our calling to follow Christ.
