Welcome to the Music Home Page!

I am Mrs. Steffl, and this is my fifth year teaching music at St. Raphael School. Our preschool through sixth grade music program includes a wide variety of elements. Through music classes twice a week, we identify and learn the names of orchestral instruments and listen to them in musical examples, we also learn the names of unpitched musical instruments and play them to learn beats and rhythms. We also sing and learn a variety of songs from around the world in many genres. In addition to that, we also study a composer of the month in depth and study his/her music and life. In class, we also learn to recognize and define musical vocabulary. In addition to all of this, our students participate in two musical/dramatic programs per year. Each student has the opportunity to speak, act, sing, dance and perform in front of an audience. We do one program at Christmas and one in the spring.
